Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I wash my dog at Fur Fitness?
Because once you try it you will never want to wash your dog at home again!
  • No mess for you to clean up at home.
  • Less stress on your dog and yourself.
  • No supplies to purchase.
  • No aching back while struggling with your dog.
  • Professional facilities makes the work easier.
  • Less expensive than paying someone else to do it.
  • And because it is fun!

I've never done this before can you help?
Yes!  We are happy to show you how our user friendly hydrobaths work and offer advice on correctly bathing your dog. In addition, we will provide expert advice on the other services offered, such as blow drying, brushing, basic grooming and clipping.

Can I bring my own supplies?
Yes! While we have all the supplies you will need to clean your dog you are free to bring anything along you would like from home.

What is the temperature of the water used to wash your dog.
Because we seasonally control our water temperature it is always at a comfortable level for your dog. There is no chance of scolding.

The shampoo does not appear to lather up, is it getting my dog clean?
Yes! Our professional shampoo accomplishes a deep clean without drying out the coat and it contains no harsh additives that build up. The shampoo does not lather like human shampoo nor do they need to for a cleansing wash.  It is the shampoo ingredients that get the dog clean not the bubbles.

How does the dryer work?
Our two speed dryers are made especially for pets . They offer a high velocity force stream that literally blasts the water out of the dogs coat. The dryer output is approximately 15 degrees above room temperature. The temperature may vary slightly during the day, and will run warmer when the dryer has been used for prolonged periods of time. The dryer nozzle should never be pointed directly at the dog's eyes or ears.

What if my dog is afraid of the dryer?
If your dog is uncomfortable with the dryer we recommend that your use the lower  speed and gently encourage them to be calm with a small food reward.

Do you provide services for other animals?
Yes! Other happy clients include, cats, rabbits and ferrets. We would however, prefer a call to arrange an appointment at a suitable time.

How do I get my big dog into the hydrobath?
We have steps and a ramp available for easy access to baths and grooming bench. These are also available for assisting old or arthritic dogs from and into cars.
